Handlers attend a four day training course at J&K Canine Academy 10912 Rachael Blvd Alachua, FL 32616, which is included with the purchase of our scent detection canines. The handler training course covers handling, search patterns, environmental management, scent discrimination reconciliation, and proper care for a working our canines. We can also arrange the course to take place at your location for an additional fee plus expenses.
This program includes three evaluations a year with your team’s. The evaluations include resolutions to basic field/ training issues and a path of continued training. A detailed report is sent directly to the Company owner or their designee of their team’s working condition. An annual expense covers the three one day evaluations and all expenses associated with them. This program is customizable to your company’s needs and continued training can be added.
We can train you your own in-house maintenance trainer, certified through Scentworx. This package allows your maintenance trainer to identify, deconstruct handling/training issues involving dogs, handlers and your teams as a whole. A one on one, on site, 30-hour intensive course outline of techniques and scenarios providing the most advanced training methods available
Due to increased invasive snake population in Florida not only have we trained canines for python detection in the everglades, we were also asked to develop a canine detection program for a large aviary. This custom program required a passive alerting the ability to detect snakes 18ft high in trees as well as other man made structures. The canine also needed to be able to move in and amongst large curious birds.
Our canker detection project was started in 2007 with the aid of the USDA. Our canine program was independently tested by the leading scientist in the industry. We successfully proved to be 98% accurate groves packing houses and nurseries during the five year research project. After completing the research we developed a program for commercial use. For the first time in history canine were able to clear a troubled nursery which intern was finally able to pass USDA inspection.
In 2007 Scentworx detection teams each comprised of a dog and a specialized handler, were able to provide the earliest form of detection for HLB in a variety of working environments such a greenhouse and off leash groves in Florida. In the research these teams were found to be the most effective detection tool available to help counter the spread of the disease.
